AppleGate Recovery Sugar Land Holding Open House

NEW OUTPATIENT TREATMENT CENTER FOCUSES ON PRESCRIPTION PAIN MEDICATION ADDICTION

AppleGate Recovery Sugar Land, a BayMark Health Services Company, will host a community Open House on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11:00am to meet the staff and tour the facility. As a provider of buprenorphine and Suboxone® treatment for opioid use disorder, AppleGate also offers counseling and supportive services to those suffering from this devastating disease.

In 2016, more than 11.5 million Americans misused a prescription pain reliever, with almost 2 million of them struggling with pain reliever use disorder, the clinical name for a dependency on or addiction to a prescription pain medication. In Texas, from 1999 to 2010 there was a 78% increase in deaths from opioid overdoses, a number that continues to rise as the opioid epidemic sweeps the nation. AppleGate treats dependency and addiction to opioids with medications proven to ease the pain of withdrawal and prevent the relapses so common for individuals in recovery from this disease.

“Drug overdose is now the leading cause of accidental death in the US, with over 20,000 deaths related to prescription pain relievers and 12,900 deaths related to heroin overdose in 2015.” shared Philip Isherwood, MD National Medical Director for AppleGate Recovery. “Our goal is to provide accessibility to lifesaving treatment for those with the disease of addiction. At AppleGate Recovery we believe patients deserve addiction treatment with evidence-based medical care and professional counseling in an environment of compassion and respect.”

AppleGate Sugar Land will be providing light refreshments and door prizes as visitors tour the facility. Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls will be in attendance, as well as other state and local officials, including Congressman Pete Olson’s representative Tori McFarlan, welcoming AppleGate and the services we bring to the greater Houston area. Finally, the Sugar Land Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to complete an official ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming AppleGate Recovery to the community.

Susan Cambria, Division President for BayMark Health Services added, “We are grateful to have received such a warm reception from the Sugar Land community, and are happy to be bringing a much needed service to this area as the misuse of prescription pain medication continues to be an issue both in Texas and across the country.”
