Sergio Huerta, MD, FASAM, is Chief Medical Officer of BayMark Health Services OTP Division, serving the Western Region. Dr. Huerta is a board-certified specialist in Addiction Medicine with extensive expertise in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment. As Medical Director of Recovery Services of New Mexico, rebranded as MedMark Treatment Centers, he oversees the state’s largest OUD treatment facility, where he integrates clinical excellence with compassionate care.
Dr. Huerta graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and holds leadership roles in national and local addiction organizations, contributes to quality improvement initiatives, and co-directs the Quality Improvement Practicum at UNM. His research, including NIH-funded studies, focuses on optimizing OUD treatment protocols and advancing evidence-based practices.
