Public Invited to St. Albans Opioid Treatment Hub Open House

Governor Phil Scott to tour and speak at Vermont’s newest opioid treatment facility

The newest treatment hub for people with substance use disorders is inviting members of the public to tour and learn more about the facility and the life-saving treatment programs it offers, on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The St. Albans Hub, located at 242 South Main Street, opened at its permanent location last month. It had been operating since June at a temporary location at the Northwestern Medical Center. The facility provides medication-assisted treatment, substance use counseling and support services. It is operated by BAART Programs, a BayMark Health Services Company.

Governor Phil Scott is scheduled to arrive at noon for a tour of the facility that has the capacity to serve nearly 400 people. He will be joined by Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD, and local officials, treatment providers, and people whose lives have been touched by opioid misuse.

“As we work to address our opioid epidemic like the public health crisis it is, the opening of a Hub to serve the Franklin County region helps not only this community, but improves our ability to provide timely access to treatment statewide,” said Gov. Scott. “Providing this access saves lives, and helps put people on the path to recovery.”

Vermont’s Hub and Spoke system of care has been recognized as a national model. “Having this Hub in St. Albans means people in the greater Franklin-Grand Isle area who are affected by opioid use disorder have a ‘health home’ where they can receive treatment and recovery support – when they need it and close to where they live and/or work,” said Jason Goguen, who oversees the facility as operations director for BAART Programs.

Visitors are invited to join the BAART staff at the open house to tour the facility, meet staff members and talk with members of the recovery community.

“In the midst of this growing public health crisis, I’m looking forward to people coming to see the incredible work going on here, and to learn about the quality treatment that has led to very real success stories of our communities’ friends, neighbors and family members,” said Goguen.
