The Coleman Institute Welcomes New Affiliate in Orange County, CA

The Coleman Institute, a nationally recognized leader in opioid use disorder treatment, is pleased to announce its partnership with Dr. Faried Banimahd of Orange County, CA. Dr. Banimahd through Zephyr Medical Group, will now offer Accelerated Outpatient Detox and Naltrexone therapy in addition to his existing outpatient treatment options for substance use disorders.

“My interest in addiction stemmed from encountering a large number of patients in the ER who had overdosed or were experiencing withdrawal,” shares Dr. Banimahd. “I realized that these patients were not being treated as effectively as they could be, and I saw an opportunity to truly make a difference for those struggling with the disease of addiction.”

Dr. Banimahd received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of California at Irvine’s School of Medicine. His background is primarily in Academic Emergency Medicine and clinical training. In this role, he has been involved in the practice of emergency medicine, training future physicians, and clinical research which has resulted in the co-authorship of several publications. Dr. Banimahd held positions as both an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Irvine Health in Orange County, and was an Attending ER Physician and Clinical Instructor at Kern Medical Center/UCLA in Bakersfield, CA. His current role as Medical Director at both the California Addiction Institute for Mind and Medicine and Zephyr Medical Group has further developed his passion for providing evidence-based, compassionate care for those working to recover from addiction. Dr. Banimahd has a distinctive approach to outpatient treatment, with an emphasis on long-term care, offering follow-up services for up to two years after the completion of a treatment program.

The Coleman Institute’s programs utilize medically supervised detoxification to comfortably and safely control the physical symptoms of withdrawal that can make recovery from opiate addiction challenging, if not impossible. The combination of detoxification and after-care support, including Naltrexone therapy, provides patients with a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan offering the real possibility of experiencing long-term sobriety.

Dr. Peter Coleman, founder and National Medical Director for The Coleman Institute stated, “More than 2 million people nationwide suffered from an opioid addiction in 2015, and that number has undoubtedly continued to climb. The Coleman Institute is honored to partner with physicians who have the same goals of providing compassionate, patient-focused care.”
